Price quotes are different for every Calgary hypnotist and different areas have different pricing. Price is negotiable. Pricing varies based on the current Economy, skill of the hypnotist, media exposure of the hypnotist in Calgary, market demand and time of year (ie. Christmas is always more expensive). The main 3 factors of Calgary Hypnosis Show pricing are Quality, Price and Service. In general, the more Quality and Service the higher the price. Conversely, when the price is less either Quality or Service or both are less.
Usually the more you pay the better the show and the better the service. You get what you pay for. This is not to say occasionally you won’t get a fantastic deal. For example, a number of years ago I was performing at a community hall for a New year’s show. Someone in the neighbourhood heard that I was performing and contacted me to do a house show for him and his guests. I walked out the door of hall I was performing at during dinner time, walked across the street, did a short show at their house in their living room and went back to my primary function to perform.
I gave them an exceptional deal because they worked around my schedule and more importantly, they were exceptionally nice to me. Courtesy goes a long, long way in the entertainment world. Be honest with your Hypnotist and treat them with respect and they will help you out if they can.
In terms of dollars and cents, here are a few things to consider, an average 250 person event at a community hall or hotel in Calgary where the hypnotist is providing sound and lights requires approximately $20,000.00 in equipment to perform properly. The average rental for one night for $20,000.00 in equipment is 4% of the purchase cost of the equipment ($800.00). This will vary depending on where you are however it is a quick standard for you to understand what the costs of a show are.
In addition, there is labour for set up and tear down (usually 1 or 2 technicians). Technician cost varies substantially depending on geographical location and/or unions and can cost anywhere from $100 to $750 per technician (average I have found is about $300 plus meals and accommodation where travel is required).
So with equipment and 1 technician we’re up to $1100 so far and only the equipment and labour has been covered (there are still business expenses, insurance, travel etc.). I provide pricing for providing sound and lights and pricing where you as the client provide sound and lights if you are capable of doing this.
It always amazes me how people think the show is 90 minutes and that’s it. A 90 minute show includes on average, 15 hours of travel, set up, prep time etc. Certainly the time varies. Like in my New Years house show the total time was 90 minutes (60 minute show plus 30 minutes to talk to people after the show and walking back and forth). The primary New Years show including travel time was 18 hours. What do you pay a lawyer, accountant, or doctor per hour? Bear this in mind when you are getting price quotes.
If the Calgary Hypnotist is charging you less than what the minimum is to even cover the costs I’ve described, there is/are reason(s) and you should find out what they are.
